Senior Software Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Remote

About Gameye

We’re Gameye. We’re on a mission to host the world’s most demanding games flawlessly. So we’ve created an orchestrator that lets multiplayer developers host their game sessions automatically.

Now, we need a software engineer to help us evolve, improve, and refine our platform. Someone who knows their way around code, while also coming up with ideas for the future.

Who you are

Our ideal recruit is someone who lives and breathes programming, but isn’t afraid to speak up and get involved. An expert with opinions about how to build a better platform and the communication skills to back them up. Someone who isn’t afraid to raise concerns and speak their mind.

While experience in the gaming sector is a bonus, it’s not essential. It’s far more important that you’re a relaxed person, not a corporate robot. You’ll also be pretty good at managing your own time: choosing how your own day looks, setting your own deadlines, and keeping to them.

What will you be doing?

  • Coding and testing

  • Working on microservices at the core of our product

  • Answering tickets and working on features

  • Tinkering with our infrastructure

  • Dabbling in DevOps

  • Contributing to meetings: discussing and helping us make a better product and deciding the roadmap together

What will make you stand out
  • You’ve been coding for about four or five years or more.

  • You’ve got mostly professional experience, plus any experience through hobby work.

  • You know the difference between a microservice and a monolith.

  • You know Docker inside out and dream of Kubernetes.

  • You’re very familiar with GitOps.

  • You know TypeScript and NodeJS. Statically typed languages like Rust, Go, and C/C++ are a bonus.

  • You’re self-driven, motivated and proactive – someone who’ll work toward a target, not just tick off boxes.

Perks that come with the job
  • Work wherever you like: We’re 100% remote. While our company was established in the Netherlands, we have no physical HQ. Your office is wherever you choose it to be.

  • Pick your work hours: We’d love to see you during our core hours (9am to 5pm Amsterdam time), and you’ll need to come to our daily meetings. But, apart from those, you can fit your work around your life (not the other way around).

  • We’ll sort your station: Keyboard worse for wear? No problem. Put in a request, and we’ll get you a brand-new one. We’ll make sure you have the tools you need.

  • Coffee is on us: Staying cooped up indoors isn’t healthy. So we’ll give you a daily budget to go out each day.

One of our core values is that we’re completely agnostic. So we want to work with the best people, regardless of your background. If that sounds like you, we want to see your resume.

About us

Our founders – Denise Helderop, Elmer Bulthuis and Sebastiaan Heijne – created Gameye in 2017 with a simple purpose: Take the guesswork out of gaming.

Developers make a lot of guesses when it comes to hosting their multiplayer games. They have to guess where their players will be, how many players they might have, and how many servers they’ll need. And that guesswork leads to developers either spending too much on servers they don’t need, or not having servers when they need them.

So we created Gameye. An orchestration platform that takes away the guesswork.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
